Picture Of The Moon
Lyrics

i took a picture of the moon

you couldn’t see what i saw, her splendor in full bloom

the shadows on her face, and her peachy cream allure

the warm summer breeze blowing through all demure

you couldn't tell i felt she knew me to the core

an old story-keeper, of every lover I've adored

a dance of elegance across a lonely stretch of night

im pretty sure that you just saw a fuzzy yellow light

I drew a portrait of the muse

poised under a waterfall in every shade of blue

but all you saw were colored lines, the contours of her thighs

the way i tried to blend the hues to show how the mists rise

you couldn’t feel the water pound against the rock

or how the smell of wet stone made me feel things id forgot

or how the faces in the canyon echoed her decent

you could only see the markings

of my novice pen

i wrote a love song for you

to tell you what you meant

but all you heard was the tune

you couldn’t feel the heat of suns colliding in my bones

the wakening of wonder at the wild light in my tones

you couldn’t hear how my heart was breaking free

to feel for once the nuances of longings sweet decree

and how a hopeless love blazed in me for you like a dying star

all you heard were the words

and the strum of my guitar

i took a picture of the moon

i drew a portrait of the muse

i wrote a love song for you

but all you heard

all you heard

was the music
